FIREPLACE PROCESS

Material Selection

Our decorative Fireplaces are made from Portuguese Limestone, Bath stone, Portland stone and Mandale Derbyshire fossil.

Here we can see a close up on a seam of derbyshire fossil as it is extracted from the ground. You can clearly see the fossils within the stone.

Manufacturing Process

Although we rely on modern machines to cut out large proportions of excess stone, we still have to step back and blow off the dust from our chisels.

Traditional handcrafting is the only way to get into the form of the fireplace ... and don't forget we are stonemasons for a reason, we love our craft.

Installation

Once we have finished the Fireplace, after a final clean, the stone is carefully loaded into the van ready for fitting.

A fireplace usually takes half a day to install dependent on the complexity and number of pieces it has been constructed in. We will arrange with you if we need to install the hearth stone on the previous day to make sure it is fully set, to take the weight of the fireplace, if built from solid block stone.

Final Product

All that is left is you to sit back and enjoy your new fireplace

CUSTOM DESIGNS

Our custom fireplace designs are made to order only, made specifically to your requirements. We will survey the chimney breast and chamber opening dimensions to create a scale layout drawing. From this, we will take our cutting measurements for your individual fireplace.

This example is made from Arabescata marble.
